Your home temple is the most peaceful corner of your home. The idol you place there is not just decoration — it is where your daily prayers, aarti and family traditions begin. That is why more families today are choosing natural herbal idols made from desi cow dung (gobar) and herbs instead of plastic, resin or plaster-of-paris murtis.
What is a herbal idol?
A herbal idol is a murti handcrafted from natural materials such as desi cow dung and herbs. In Indian tradition, cow dung (gomaya) has always been considered pure and auspicious — it is used in havan, in plastering the floors of homes and temples, and in many sacred rituals. AMP Herbals idols carry this tradition into a beautiful, detailed form for your pooja ghar.
Why choose a herbal idol for your home temple?
- Natural and eco-friendly – made from natural materials, not plastic or plaster-of-paris.
- Rooted in tradition – cow dung has been part of Indian pooja and rituals for generations.
- Handcrafted with devotion – each idol is shaped and finished by hand in small batches.
- Lightweight and easy to place – fits comfortably in a home temple, office desk or car dashboard shelf.
- A meaningful gift – perfect for griha pravesh, Diwali, weddings and festivals.

How to place your idol
Traditionally, the home temple is set up in the north-east corner of the home, with the idol placed on a clean raised platform or chowki rather than directly on the floor. Many families place Ganesh Ji on the left side of Lakshmi Ji. Keep the space clean, light a diya every morning and evening, and offer flowers with a sincere heart — that is what matters most.
How to take care of a herbal idol
- Keep it in a dry place, away from water and direct sunlight.
- Clean it gently with a soft, dry cloth or a soft brush — do not wash it with water.
- Offer water, milk or abhishek in a separate vessel rather than directly on the idol.
- Keep incense and diya flames at a safe distance.
